A Special Series for Parents and Family Members
Presented by SUPAC and hosted by Cortland City School District

SESSION 1: The Special Education Process

The special education process can be complex and difficult to navigate for many families. This training will cover everything you need to know from referral to resolving disagreements. Some of the items we cover are:

  • Timelines
  • Referral process
  • Evaluations
  • Eligibility
  • IEP development and implementation
  • and more….

ABOUT THIS SERIES: All parents and family members can and should have meaningful participation in their children’s education, especially when the child receives special education supports and services. Effectively communicating and collaborating with the school team is essential to improved outcomes for students with disabilities. Cortland City School District is pleased to host this six-part Family Engagement Series present by SUPAC-Syracuse University Parent Assistance Center.  Each session will provide strategies and information to build upon the next in helping families to navigate and participate in the Special Education Process for their children.
