Session 6:  Post-Secondary Transition Planning in the IEP

Post-Secondary Transition is planning and preparing for one’s future after high school while still in school. In this workshop, you will learn about the transition process for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).  You will also learn the answers to the following questions and more:

  • What does Post-Secondary Transition mean?
  • When should planning begin for transition from school to the adult world?
  • Who is involved in the transition process?
  • What does transition planning look like in the IEP?

This training is open to all families that want to learn about transition planning for students with IEPs and is highly recommended for families of students in Middle School and High School

ABOUT THIS SERIES: All parents and family members can and should have meaningful participation in their children’s education, especially when the child receives special education supports and services. Effectively communicating and collaborating with the school team is essential to improved outcomes for students with disabilities. SCSD is pleased to host this six-part Family Engagement Series presented by SUPAC-Syracuse University Parent Assistance Center. Each session will provide strategies and information to build upon the next in helping families to navigate and participate in the Special Education Process for their children!
